Sonography

What is a Sonographer?

Sonographers (or Ultrasound Technologists) use sound waves to produce images of the human body for the purpose of medical diagnosis. Students in the Medical Imaging Sonography Track at IUFW will complete coursework and clinical rotations in abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology, and vascular sonography.

Upon program completion, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging. Graduates are eligible to apply to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Examination in Sonography and/or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) sonographic principles and instrumentation, abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology examinations.

"I love the small class sizes and tight-knit community here! [The] close connection with the other students and teachers has really helped strengthen my learning.”

Isabella G., Medical Imaging student
